For nearly four decades, the Jozankei Onsen Keiryu Koinobori has been a beloved spring tradition in Hokkaido. From April 10 to May 11, about 400 carp streamers donated by families across the region will soar above the hot spring town, filling the valley sky with vibrant colors. Visitors can enjoy the spectacle against the seasonal transitions unique to Jozankei: lingering snow on the mountains in April, cherry blossoms in early May, and fresh spring greenery known as “haru momiji” by mid-May. This heartwarming event captures the spirit of renewal and community, with each carp streamer carrying cherished memories while celebrating the beauty of nature in the valley.
